One of the most confusing aspects of undergoing a rhinoplasty is not the operation itself, but choosing the procedure by which the surgery would be done. A patient usually has two choices, either he or she can go for an open rhinoplasty or a closed rhinoplasty. These two terms may seem to be alien and confusing to the people, but are the two widely used procedures to undergo rhinoplasty. By both these methods, a person would be able to remove the skin of the nose and quicken the exposure of the skeletal framework of the nose.
All the changes in the outer part of the nose results from the changes made to the exoskeleton of the nose, hence the approach of the surgery taken as well as the exposure of the skeleton as a result of this has a direct effect on the ease by which the surgery can be conducted. The quality of the closed rhinoplasty as a result of this is hence determined. The incisions for the closed kind of rhinoplasty are all made inside the nostrils. There is a relative lack of surgical exposure in case of the closed rhinoplasty, which has an inside the nose approach.
